Some notes on data licencing
By default all the spots you add to BeerSpotr, the data that BeerSpotr extracts from them and any accompanying photographs are copyright to you. You can choose to open them up to 3rd parties for reuse by updating your licencing via Twitter.
Licencing for reuse
Creative Commons licences allow you to retain copyright over your spots whilst opening them up for reuse by 3rd parties. There are 6 flavours of Creative Commons licences available:
-
cc-by-nc-nd
Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives allows other people to take your spot data and photographs and reuse them elsewhere so long as they credit you, don't use them for commercial gain and don't alter them.
To licence your spots in this way post a message with the format:
@beerspotr licence:cc-by-nc-nd -
cc-by-nc-sa
Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike allows other people to take your spot data and photographs, alter them and reuse them elsewhere so long as they credit you, don't use them for commercial gain and share any derived works under the same licence.

Making your spots public domain
If you don't want to retain copyright over your spots and associated photographs you can make them public domain by posting a message with the format:
@beerspotr licence:cc-0
This will set the licence to Creative Commons No Rights Reserved.
And not licencing for reuse
If you've posted previous spots under a Creative Commons licence but don't want to allow for reuse of future spots you can revert to plain copyright by posting a message with the format:
@beerspotr licence:copyright
Combining licence setting with a spot
To save time / tweets you can set the data licence at the same time as you send a tweet by posting a message with the format:
@beerspotr pint:londonpride licence:LICENCE_CODE
Note that this licence will be used for all subsequent spots until you send another licence update message.
Licence coverage
Every time you update your licence it will be applied to all subsequent spots (including the current spot if the licence update message is combined with a spot message). Once a spot is made it's not possible to change its licence.
